This San Ildefonso polychrome jar is a wonderful pot, attributed to Dolorita Vigil, niece of Martina and Florentino Vigil. This form was used by all three potters as was the continuation of the white slip down to the base. Martina died in 1916. Dolorita and Florentino died in the infuenza epidemic of 1918.

These potters began to use Cochiti slip somewhere around 1905. The pots with Cochiti slip were rag polished. This jar was stone polished, so it was likely made a little before they converted to use of Cochiti slip. It is a beautiful jar.
