This beautiful and rare cuff bracelet is coming to us from a descendant of the original purchaser. It is in excellent condition, with little wear (it has been packed away for many years).
William Spratling was a well-known architect in the United States who emigrated to Taxco after the Mexican Revolution. He, along with Fred Davis, Renee D'Harnencourt, Diego Rivera and others, spearheaded the art renaissance in Mexico. Their goal was to create jobs and revive pride in Mexico.
Taxco had a very long tradition of mining silver. Spratling brought great design to Taxco and his workshop (Taller de Las Delicias) spearheaded the production and sale of silver jewelry worldwide.
