Camilio Tafoya (1902-1995) was the son of Sara Fina Tafoya and the brother of Margaret Tafoya. He was also the father of Joseph Lonewolf and Grace Medicine Flower. He was an accomplished artist who was well-recognized in his lifetime, and he was especially known for his incised black pots through most of years when working the clay.
After Joseph Lonewolf introduced the use of sgraffito in his pottery, Camilio and Grace Medicine Flower also commence use of the technique and made miniature pottery jewels. They then began using colored clay. Camilo makes good use of both techniques in this miniature jar.
