C G Wallace was the trader at Zuni during the era in which this bracelet was made. Wallace was determined to sell jewelry that was high quality and he encouraged the artists who sold their jewelry to him to make certain styles, including mosaic inlay, channel inlay, and petit point. This bracelet is an example of mosaic inlay, which requires great lapidary skill along with silver skill.

Wallace also employed several Navajo (Dine’) silversmiths to work with the best of his lapidaries. Jewelry such as this show the collaboration, with quality silverwork as well as stone work.
