Catalogue that was published in conduction with Exhibition of the same name organized by the Drawing Center, NY, and the American Federation of Arts

This exhibit and catalogue highlighted the Plains Indians' tradition of ledger art, offering articles on the history of graphic art among the Plains Indians, analyzing the structure and meaning in ledger art and offering methods of evaluating ledger art among the Cheyenne and the Lakota. Included in the exhibition were books that were previously unstudied as well as those in prominent museum collections.

This catalogue offers the student and collector of Native American Plains art a visual representation by Native artists of their own culture.
