This Late Classic Navajo serape is stunningly beautiful. It is finely woven with 10 warps per inch and it has survived the years without noticeable fading or condition issues. The design is reminiscent of earlier blankets but, of course, the synthetic red dye dates the blanket to the 1870s. It might very well have been woven by a weaver who was working a decade earlier.
It is without question “art” in and of itself.
